Mrs. Meunier is the conductor of the Wind Ensemble, conductor of the Symphonic Band, and co-director of the Marching Rams. During her tenure at Southeast Polk, the band program has developed and maintained a reputation for consistent excellence.
Prior to teaching at Southeast Polk High School, Jacquelyn served as Director of Bands at Ogden High School during 1998 – 99, and as band director for nine Catholic schools under the auspices of Wahlert High School in Dubuque, Iowa from 1996 - 98. She is currently active as a solo and ensemble festival adjudicator, and is a private clarinet instructor for junior high through college level students. She has served as an advisor on the 2006 Iowa Ambassadors of Music European Tour.
Jacquelyn is an active member of the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association, the Iowa Bandmasters Association, the Iowa Music Educators Association, and the Music Educators National Conference. She has served as the high school honor band chair person for SCIBA and is past president for the district. A native of Boone, Iowa, Jacquelyn received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1995 from Iowa State University. She spends her free time with her husband Bob and their beautiful daughter Katie.
Mr. Gerth, a native of Winona, Minnesota, leads the jazz bands, Concert Band, and shares the directorship of the Marching Band. Prior to coming to Southeast Polk, he was the director of bands at Saydel High School in Des Moines, Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming, and the Guttenberg, Iowa Community Schools. Jayson holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Drake University and a Master of Music degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Wyoming.
Jayson is former principal tubist of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and an active band clinician and adjudicator. He has received the 2000 Casper (WY) Star-Tribune “Star Teacher” Award, and was recognized by the Natrona County School District as an “Outstanding Educator” in 2002 and 2004.
Further, Mr. Gerth has served as the Executive Director of the University of Wyoming Summer Music Camp and was head marching instructor for the Wyoming All-State Marching Band during their appearance at the 2004 Rose Parade. He is a member of MENC, IMEA, IBA, IJE, the National Band Association, Phi Beta Mu International Band Masters' Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honorary Society and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity. He lives in Ankeny, Iowa with his wife Krista, daughter Abby, and sons Tyler and Nathan.
